What you need to know about PDO Threads
PDO threads are made of polydioxanone, a synthetic polymer that is colorless, Crystaline and biodegradable. Threads help the skin to tighten through triggering rejuvenation in the skin. The end result is lifted, tightened, brighter and younger looking skin. PDO threads encourage natural production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Collagen and elastin are proteins that give skin its elasticity and firmness. Hyaluronic acid help with rehydrating the skin and promoting its growth which leads to enhanced skin hydration and a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles.
PDO threads provide the potential to restore aging skin while enhancing quality, whether you’re addressing a drooping jaw line, smokers line, droopy eyebrows, loose skin under the chin, upper arm, thighs, knees, elbows, or your stomach.
How do PDO threads work?
The treatment involves inserting biodegradable, absorbable, and non-allergenic medical threads, also known as sutures, into the deep layer of skin to promote the formation of collagen. Over a period of three to six months, the PDO threads are gradually broken down and bio-absorbed in the tissue. The rejuvenation process which is triggered by the threads will continue up to 18 months to 3years. For a comprehensive rejuvenation approach, you may also wish to combine PDO threads with other treatment such as fillers, profhilo or wrinkle- smoothing injections.
What you need to Know about the procedure
Depending on the person’s medical condition, skin type, age, lifestyle, and other considerations the results can last up 18 months to 3 years. The procedure may take 45 minutes in small areas such as under eyes for eyebags treatment up to 2hrs in face and neck lift. As with any cosmetic procedure, you’ll feel a little uncomfortable during and right after the procedure. To minimize the discomfort, we administer the local anesthetics for this procedure. This means topical numbing cream to start with and local anesthetic injections to continue with. These injections designed to completely numb the areas where threads are invested in the skin.
There could be some transient bruising, redness, swelling or numbness. Whitin a few days, these normally disappears. We will arrange for a review after a month and a final appointment after 3 months when before and after photographs will be compared and if any other treatment such as fillers if desired to perform.
We recommend:
- Avoid other facial/beauty treatment for 2 weeks
- Avoid dental work for a month
- Avoid exercise for 2 weeks and contact sports for the first month
